The University of Maryland's Men basketball team won their very first NCAA National Championship in the school's history. On Monday, April 1, 2002, they defeated the Indiana Hoosiers 64-52. The game was not the prettiest game that the Terps have played this year, but that does not matter. Maryland is now the #1 team in the country.
Congratulations Terrapins!!

Juan Dixon, the senior leader for the Terps goes for a steal against Kansas' Wayne Simien. Dixon is the only player in NCAA history to finish his career with more than 2,000 points, 500 steals and 300 made three pointers.
Here, Dixon takes it to the hole after a steal. Against Indiana, Juan scored 18 points and made key shots and added some much needed defensive pressure. During the NCAA Tournament, Dixon averaged 27 points on his way to earning the tournaments Most Outstanding Player award.
Point guard Steve Blake makes a lay-up over Kansas' Jeff Boshee. While Blake did not play great in the tournament, his leadership on the floor carried the Terps to the championship. He will be expected to lead his team once again in the 2003-2004 season when he will be a senior.
